The St James walk focuses on the gentleman clubs of London. St James, still sometimes referred to as ‘Clubland’, was well known for its very exclusive ‘men only’ clubs, which gained popularity in the late 1800’s, and were frequented by the wealthy upper class, the aristocracy, and those in the know.

Come and experience this ‘secret world of the wealthy’ and enjoy some delicious food and drink delights along the way!

On this walking tour, you will:

-Take a relaxed, guided stroll around one of London’s most exclusive areas

-Start and finish near Green Park tube

-Hear about and see some of 13 traditional English gentleman’s clubs, including the Reform Club, Boodles and The Athenaeum

-Visit some of the exclusive shops that still cater for this clientele

-See one of the oldest and most expensive restaurants in town

-Learn about Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchant (300 years old!)

-Take in the famous Queen’s grocery store

-Visit a 200 year old cheese shop.

-Learn about the Jamie Oliver of the 19th Century:

the cook who inspired the TV series, ‘The Duchess of Duke Street’  and the  man who invented the sandwich.

Optional Extra:

At the end of the tour, Joanna has arranged a special visit to one of the best kept secrets in London.  This wine bar is amazing and one that you will want to return to time and time again.  The wines are expensive, but the atmosphere is worth it!  They also do cocktails and other beverages.
